About Colegio De Laurel

Where education meets opportunities!

The establishment of a local college in the Municipality of Laurel started as a vision of Mayor Lyndon Masicat Bruce who viewed education as a potent tool for transforming society for the better. Upon his assumption of office on 30 June 2022, he included the objective of organizing and establishing an institution of higher learning in the agenda of his administration. Thus, he convened a Technical Working Group headed by Municipal Administrator Bienvinido S. Mayuga to study the feasibility of the said establishment and offering of the appropriate academic programs of the proposed college.

Councilor and Chairman of the Committee on Education, SB Liezl De Castro sponsored the move to organize and establish the Colegio de Laurel. On 05 June 2023, the Sangguniang Bayan of Municipality of Laurel passed Resolution No. 9, s. 2023 officially creating a local government run college – the Colegio de Laurel (“Colegio”).

The initial proposed programs are the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED), Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCRIM).

The Board of Trustees (BOR) is the governing body of the Colegio. It formulates and implements policies deemed necessary for the administration and development of the Institution. The Mayor of the Municipality of Laurel, as Chairperson, presides over meetings of the BOT.

OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

  • The President/College Administrator of the Colegio is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the educational institution. S/He manages the resources of the Colegio and directs its activities. S/He is responsible for the attainment of the vision, mission and goals of the Colegio.
  • MR. BIENVINIDO S. MAYUGA, MAEd, LPT
  • Bienvinido S. Mayuga is currently the Municipal Administrator of Laurel, Batangas, Philippines. In this role, he works closely with local officials, including the municipal mayor, Lyndon M. Bruce, to manage various municipal departments and oversee development projects for the community, such as health service improvements for Laurel residents.
  • He is a also a licensed teacher and a graduate of BS in Theology, MA in Education and currently on his dissertation studies for his doctoral degree.

Organizational Chart

The Colegio is created by virtue of Municipal Ordinance No. 09, series of 2023, which is a division under the Office of the Mayor.
The Colegio is spearheaded by the Board of Trustees, which is the highest policy-making body of the Colegio, and will designate/appoint college administrators, officials and faculty members, whose educations and experiences are aligned to their respective administrative and academic positions. The overall management of Colegio is handled by the College President (Administrator, in the interim), together with the Vice President for Academic Affairs (Associate Professor I Rank) and the Vice President for Administration (College Department Head I Rank) for the school’s operations.
As reflected in the organizational chart, there are heads of offices that will administer the smooth and efficient operations of the Colegio, who can innovate to facilitate the provision of quality education for the students of Colegio.
